Autopack mixed cases on the delivery on delivery create

What is the best approach to meet the following business requirements.

Goals:

1. To autopack the delivery on delivery create. Almost all HUs are expected to be mixed cases. The dimensions of most of the materials are the same.

2. To optimize the autopack so that all of the materials in an HU are from the same or neighbouring picking locations.

Given:

1. Each delivery has a different combination of single picked materials.

2. There are 3 shipping packaging materials that hold a different number of units. The selection of packaging materials is dependent on the quantities ordered.

3. SAP 4.7

Challenges:

1. Packing proposals appear to be too rigid. Can generic or a reference material be used to identify the materials to be packed? If so how?

2. Is PACKMODI the only option?

3. Any other options?

Hello Catherine,

you should able to fulfill your requirement with packing instructions and settings in customizing.

To work with packing instructions, you have to use transaction POP1, POF1.

For using reference material, it seems the packed quantity for the different materials should the same.

Different packaging materials (depending on qunatity), you can try to handle with "Respect rounding/min. qties" and

"Respect Alternative Packing Instruction" in "Packing Transaction Profile" (Customizing).

Check customizing and documnetation of "Handling Unit Mangaement" --> "Automatic Packing", "Packing Transaction Profile"

If you can't fulfill your requirement with customizing and PACKMODI, there are also BADI's available.
