NWBC Confusion

In the SAP Help for NW 7.0 EHP 2 it shows how to test the service for NWBC by running TCODE NWBC. The system is telling me that TCODE does not exist. Searched on that in OSS with no notes that seemed to relate.

I have BASIS level 700 18, with EA-APPL 603 0004. I will need to patch to level 700 21 according to the PDF for NWBC, but am trying to be sure that is the only action required.

Has anyone had that error message on the TCODE ?

Hi,

I think one point that we are missing here is that the transaction NWBC is only available as of SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP2 onwards.

Since your ECC stack is not on EHP2 thats why you are getting this error message. I think that you may have to apply EHP2 for Netweaver 7.0 on your ECC system. This is because I searched the SAP Help Library for this transaction in each of the sections (NW 7.0, NW7.0 EHP1, NW 7.0 EHP2) but found the reference to this transaction only in NW 7.0 EHP2.

Further, it may be helpful if you shared the PDF link, so I can check that as well. But I still feel that the explanation I offered above might be the correct one.

that's what I initially thought, but according to the EHP numbering conventions and verifying other posts here, I am on ECC 6.0 EHP 3.

So 603 0004 = ECC 6.0 EHP 3 according to the documentation and is what I had my BASIS consultant install.

The PDF is the NWBC 3.0 Client installation guide.

Am I reading the posts here and the Master Guides wrong about 603 004 = ECC 6 EHP 3?

note 1368177 -> which is pointing to: 1353538

hence you need two more notes to look at.

that´s it. then it should work.

Thanks for the reply - a little more info to work with. I am in process of patching to 21 or above at this point, but that note referenced (1353538 ) is locked as internal or in process of change when I try to call it up. Maybe it's no longer relevant due to SP22 or higher, although the odd things is that the links showing what's new in SP's forr NW 7.0 show the help doc pages and stop at SP 19... so no help on what's in there for 20-22 or higher from help.

I'll patch up and retest. According to PAM and other available downloads, core NW is only available as 7.0 or 7.0 EHP1. Does that translate to 7.01 versus the other NW packages that are shown on the SWDC as 7.1 or 7.2 (for CE & other packages)?

Hi Edward,

wait for the note to be released again (tomorrow noon)- that willl make it more clear.

It´s currently blocked because there comes anotherruntime patch on top (out of patch 3 you will get then 4).
