How i can exploit NWDS with XI. One way i am told i could is to avoid big graphical mappings and instead import java code.
Where i can get tutorial stuff for doing that in and any other particular better way i could use NWDS with XI ?

I rather would avoid Java code for complex mappings.
most of the details you need on NWDS is here -
apart from that, in XI, you will use NWDS for
a. Java mappings
b. Custom Modules
Info on the above can be easily got by doing a search on SDN
You can create your own adapter or adapter module in NWDS and deploy it directly from there on PI.
Information about Java mapping, adapter & adapter module developments can be searched on sdn.
