Time recording ID number (IT0050) in global landscape

Dear all,

we need to come up with a global concept for the time recording ID number in infotype 0050, making sure that there is a naming convention for this badge number.

Since positive time management is already existing in various countries (that will be merged into one system), we are obviously facing the problem that badge numbers may be duplicate. There is a check in infotype 0050, that is preventing duplicate keys in that field, that means that you will not be able to maintain the same time recording ID twice. Of course it would be simple to modify the screen and switch off the message, but that is not the point. You would still have duplicate badge IDs for different personnel numbers in the system.

So the question is:

Does anybody see on option to avoid that problem without modifying the system and without changing badge numbers in all involved countries to isolated number ranges (e.g. 01000000-01999999 for Germany, 02000000-02999999 for Switzerland, the first to digits being the country code)?

Would it be an option to "link" the recording ID number to the subsystem grouping (setting the grouping up individually for each country)?

Comments would be very welcome,

best regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Ultimately, how you want to go forward.

I f you want to change the Badge Number, and give new badge number to be entered in IT 0050, to all the employees in the world.

Then you can go either way taking the number ranges combination of

1. starting with country code, company code, PA, PSA,then starts sl number

2. starting with country code, Subsystem grouing for country, company code, PA, PSA, then starts sl number

3. starting with country code, Subsystem grouing for country, then starts sl Number

Since time recording and evaluation is same for all the countries, unlike payroll, you can think of it, and wait for experts comments and choose one better way do proceed further.

Hi Venu,

thanks for your input.

Of course we want to avoid giving out new badges to several entities in several countries - the impact on cost would be huge.

Time recording and time evaluation is NOT the same in all countries, this is why we invent global naming conventions in all involved tables and groupings that do not have/use the country grouping MOLGA. One country will only have access to their section of these tables. The only problem left is really the usage of the time recording ID number infotype 0050.

And since the recording ID is only 8 digit long, it would only make sense to use a short "global" indicator in front.

Rgds,

Michael
