Basic Configuration and Support Pack Stacks

Hi everyone,

Just a general question about the Solution Manager 7 "basic configuration" stuff.

Are you required to perform the "Basic Configuration" everytime after you apply a new support pack stack to solution manager?

Or is it a one off, after the initial installation?

Cheers

Shaun

Just to complement, if you have done some configuration and you reactivate a BC Set for example, you may reset the configurations to standard, so in case you want to keep it you may save it to apply later.

Hello Shaun,

When you apply new support packages you may also need to install the central Note for that support package and the basic configuration will prompt you to do so, though it can be applied separately. Typically SAP recommends running the initial and basic setup after a Support Package, since as it was pointed out new functionality may not be available. Usually there are two drivers for updating 1) new functionality 2) issue correction. So it makes sense to do it as a best practice.

Paul

Hi Shaun,

Support packs are coming with new features and corrections of previous versions .

So If you want to use the new features added in the latest support packs, you may need to run it again . Anyway , normally there will not be any problems for the exisitng configs even if you do not run it for new support packs .

Hello,

https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001927282008E has some information about your question.

Only some parts of SOLMAN_SETUP must be run everytime, other parts are optional. For an overview please visit the link.
