Network sizing for BI/Portal

Hi,

We are in the process of estimating the Network bandwidth requirements for some additional users (who would be accessing our BI and EP systems via WAN connection).

I have gone through the document "Front-End Network Requirements for SAP Business Solutions" @ SMP http://service.sap-ag.de/sizing -> Sizing Guidelines -> Solutions & Platform.

We feel that the Formula to Calculate Bandwidth Requirements (C = X * N * D * 0.25) given in the document is applicable for ERP systems. (which would provide kbps values).

However, for BI and EP, only 'Network load per report' / 'Avg. Kilo Bytes per Interaction Step' guidelines were given (which would provide only kb values). So how do we compute the Network bandwidth requirements for BI and EP (in kbps)?

HI,

Its very difficult to suggest network BW for your environment, need to consider lots of factors.
