Netweaver Rapid Install on Windows Server 2008, SQL2005

I have worked my way throught the installation steps and have overcome a few Server 2k8 obstacles and am now faced with the Java Engine not starting up. I troubleshot down to the dev_jcontrol.log file where it displays the following message. I assume that this is due to the fact that my current JDK version (j2sdk1.4.2_17-x64) is not supported with Server 2008 but am wondering if anyone has encountered this before and how it may have been resolved.

JDK Version is 64

Windows 2008 is 64

SQL Server 2008 is 64

Netweaver Rapid Installer 2004s SPS11 ?

(it did not specify when downloading from the support portal where i downloaded it it)

I just went back to the Installations and Upgrades page and notice that all RI downloads do not specify 64 bit or 32 bit.

Rapid installer is only available as 32bit, there is no 64bit version of it.

Additionally an RI installation is a combined ABAP + Java installation which is no more recommended.

This doesn't work either.

32bit installations are deprecated, Windows 2008 is not supported one 32bit, that's basically the reason why you get this message now.

SAP only supports Windows Server 2008 64-bit.

Don't use Rapid Installer (any more) to install instance, use the default installation methods.

It seems you use a 32bit installation?
