NWDI Version

Former Member

Hi,

We are planning maintenance on our NWDI system. We currently have NWDI 7.0 sp14 installed and have issues finding information on the versions of the product.

Is NWDI only delivered for 7.0 or there is a 7.1 or 7.2 version? What is the latest version?

Is it better to do an upgrade or a migration? Is there any documentation on the subject?

Thank you very much for your help

HI Renaud-Pierre,

agree with you that NW 7.0 SP14 is a bit outdated.

For your question. I would advise you to just do a SP Stack update on your NWDI to SP Stack 21. This is the safest and easiest ways in my opinion. Only ably a complete stack do not just update the NWDI components to a new SP level. Standard procedure using JSPM.

I have done a lot of migration test lately and I can tell you from my personal experience.

There is a NWDI based on CE. It was released with EHP1 for NW 7.1. This NW 7.11 has no functional difference in NWDI components to a NW 7.0 SP21 NWDI. Latest NWDI Version should be NW 7.11 SP 04.

As far as I can tell NWDI was just ported to Java 1.5 and integrated to the new concepts of CE (configuration templates..) But the implementation is not very good as of now imho. You can not for example change CBS settings in NWA as it would be normal. There is only a workaround over configtool. There have been some problemes with NWDS connections and CE NWDI but they have been fixed.

Ce is nice, easy to administrated nice SLD options, but I think migrating a nwdi to CE is not paying of overall.

I did not upgrade our old nwdi when i went for CE. We migrated on a track level. SOme with SCA transfer and now some witk DTR replication.

After all we decided to stay on NW 7.0 in our production environment. Currently running on 7.0 SP19. update to maybe 22 or 23 is planned...

As far as I know 7.2 is still in ramp up, so there is a good change that for you (and for me) to a 7.2 NWDI is not available.

Hope this will help you on your decision

Hi Renaud-Pierre Landry,

You can find the information of the NWDI components (DIDTR, DICBS DICMS) at the

http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo

http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo

>Is NWDI only delivered for 7.0 or there is a 7.1 or 7.2 version? What is the latest version?

I think so, you can search the NWDI Components (DIDTR, DICBS DICMS) at Service Market Place...

Download >> SAP Support Packages >> Support Packages and Patches >> Search for Support Packages and Patches >> Search for DIDTR or DICBS or DICMS, you can find available version of NWDI with NAVIGATING to different page1-6..

Is it better to do an upgrade or a migration? Is there any documentation on the subject?
