Implementing External facing portal

The scenario is there are four different locations (Bangalore, Pune, Trivendrum, Kolkata).They want to access some T-Codes through NetWeaver portal (External facing portal) .The server is in Chennai.Are there any settings that need to be done to public/private ip.There should be no anonymous user.

How many portals, 1 or many? Most of the work is present at the Portal content level not at Network level.

Well, this depends completely from the security requirements of each company...

The netwok level can be very complicated !
