You can move them... You'll have to create a new filesystem on vgnew copy the data and then dismount the old filesystem...

Take a backup before and make sure you get someone with experience to do the swap.

Move filesystem /usr/sap to other VG no affects the system? the change is transparent?

As far as I know as long as the filesystem is mounted the volume group is not an issue from the SAP point of view... but I'll be careful when doing OS administration and backups to consider the data on both volume groups.

To add to that ideally you could have your OS and SAP software on the local disks and the DB on the SAN.

my question is really moving the SAP installation (/ usr / sap) to other disk in another VG.

Sap installation does not associate the inode of the disk?

To perform this activities, or employment would not be better to install again?

Hi,

If you still need to increase the size of logical volume, you can do this with SAM tool ...

1. Backup /usr/sap/ directory.

2. Run "SAM" Tools to create/change logical volumes. (Assuming that you are familier with SAM tools)

3. Rename /usr/sap/<SID> logical volume. (Later you can delete it...)

4. Create new logical volume /usr/sap/SID> on SAN Disk

5. Restore /usr/sap directory to newly created logical volume.

This will solve your problem.

Hi,

you can delete core file from /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nr>/work, dev_w*.old too.. look out for files which can be zipped.

If still they are occupying more space try considering the below options too.

Run the reports RSBTCDEL and RSPO0041 and also check the SAP note: 16513

But, would suggest adding space to your file systems with the help of OS guys.

Cheers,

Bharath.
