Communication error in VC apps with SP21 of EP 7.0

We are in the process of applying SP21 to our EP 7.0 SP16 landscape and have run into an issue with Visual Composer. When we run a VC app, we now receive the following popup:

*******************************************************************************

Communication Error

A communication error has occurred. Could not retrieve data.

*******************************************************************************

Has anyone experienced this issue and if so what did you do to fix? Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be casuing this issue? Our VC apps worked just fine with SP16 before installing SP21

Regards,

Butch

Hello ,

The Error is Coming becouse of you BI Queries is taking Long time to execute into the BW System.

you can analyse ussing the HTTP Trace after 300 Sec you got the error message. If your BW Queries executed with in the 300 sec then you wont get any error message.

for Soutions.

1) Increase the Timeline for the Connection.

2) Do some Fine tune into the Queries.

Thanks

Thanks for your response, Chittya, but we are not trying to access our BI system with queries. The backend system we are connecting to is the main ERP system. But even given that, we still don't believe that this is a timeout issue...we are apparently not even successfully connecting to the backend system. And all our VC apps worked fine under SP16...this only began after we installed SP21.

One additional tidbit I should add is that the VC apps still work fine for the Basis person who installed SP21 but now no longer work for everyone else. Everyone else when trying to execute VC apps (which previously worked for them) receive the error message popup: u201CCommunication Error....A communication error has occurred. Could not retrieve datau201D.

It is very odd that our VC apps only works for the Basis person who did the SP21 install now. And, btw, all other portal apps (iViews) appear to be working fine for everyone as before (Wed Dynpro, BSP, Integrated ITS, etc...). We have explored every possibility we can think of, the obvious one being security of some kind. But granting anyone the same security & permissions as the Basis person did not work. We have also looked at workstation settings, client side versions of Adobe & Java & IE, folder and iview permissions, Visual Admin settings, connection settings and exhaustively searched SDN and Marketplace. It still may be something simple but so far the cause and solution have eluded us...

Any other ideas would be appreciated...thanks.

We believe we have resolved this issue ourselves...

The problem appears to have been the Language setting in the General Info for our LDAP portal users (all our users) was not set to anything...it was blank. This field being blank (not set to English) has worked fine up thru SP16 but apparently in SP21 this is now a required field and must be set to English (for us) or else our VC developers/users are not able to run any VC apps successfully.

We set the Language field to English in General Info of the UME for several users who run VC and it now works for them. Now looking for an easy way to set the Language field to English for all LDAP-defined users in our portal instances en mass.
