Identifying a material number

Hello

How do I get to identify a material number,when its item category is known?

In other words, how to get a material nmbr, using its item category?

Hi,

Query is not clear..still..In Sales ordr level table VBAP, In delivery level LIPS, Invoice VBRP..

Give item category material no.s will come...

Material number is determined based on the material type and not by the item category. You can check the number ranges assigned to Material types in MMNR transaction. please click on groups to see the details.

Item category is determined by the order type and the item category group (assigned in the material master). Check the assignmnets in VOV4.
