Dear Experts,
I am on SAP 4.7EE, Windows 2003 and Oracle 9.2.0.5.0. We are in the process of upgrading our oracle to 10.2.0.4.
As a pre-requisite we are trying to apply oracle patch 9.2.0.6 so as to run the upgrade assistant, but we are not able to invoke the opatch utility and get the below error.
====================================================================================================
D:\Upgrade_102\p4351589_9206_WINNT\4351589>E:\OPatch\opatch apply
"You have to invoke the patch tool manually."
"The syntax is:"
" perl <path to patch tool>/opatch.pl <patch command>"
"If everything is installed correctly you should be able to run"
" perl <path to patch tool>/opatch.pl"
" and see the basic help message."
D:\Upgrade_102\p4351589_9206_WINNT\4351589>perl E:\OPatch\opatch.pl apply
'perl' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Please do the needful so as to solve the problem.
Thanks in advance

Hi Haree,
'perl' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
You might need to install "PERL" for windows...
Just go to the below link. Download and install it.. then try to run "Opatch" again..

Hi,
*Oracle Home = E:*
Set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID system variable correctly pointing to actuall ORACLE_HOME
Try to run the OPatch utility from your %ORACLE_HOME%\OPatch directory with absolute path.
cd <path_to_the_patch_directory>
%ORACLE_HOME%\OPatch\opatch.pl apply
Then try again...
Regards.

Dear Rajesh,
The ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID are set correctly and i have run the command the way you expected.., i am still not able to succeed.
Do you think there is any other problem.., i have also changed the oracle inventory path in the registry(suggestions based on OTN forum) and tried. Still no go.
Any more suggesstions
Thanks and regards

Hi Eric,
The purpose of me posting this is to upgrade to 10.2.0.4 itself, but i will not to be able to do it unless i upgrade to 9.2.0.6 minimum.
Question: Can i proceed to upgrade from 9.2.0.5 directly to 10.2.0.2
I have solved my problem of the OPatch by setting up 2 variables (OPATCH_QUOTE_PERL_CMD and ACTIVE_STATE_PERL set to TRUE)
I have successfully applied the interim patches but now the error is that i am not able to start OracleServiceOMQ service and the error i get it is
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
checked various blogs and forums and yet failed to solve the error, can someone help me.
Thanks and regards
Hunky
