Hello,

our current situation is, that we copied manually (after a system crash) all files under /sapdb from an old backup into the our (empty) Live system. Only the database files under sapdb/KRT/sapdata comes from the chrashed SAP system. These files are not lost.

If we start the Sap System following messages appears:

This is not enough.

You also need

/usr/spool/sql
/etc/opt/sdb or /var/opt/sdb

with the proper permissions.

Otherwise the registration of the database is missing (and hence you get 'invalid' with sdbregview).

Hi Markus,

thank you for your help !!

These directories are not chrashed, there are the same directories without any modifications, because the crashed directory /sapdb was on a seperate iscsi device.

But i've started the program sdbregview with the option --set_corrupted_invalid and answered every question (to marked it as invalid) with yes ... maybe this was wrong ?!?

Problem is, that i'm not a system administrator expert ....

Could i solve this problem with the invalid packages without new installation ?

Best Regards

I'd open an OSS call before more damage is done. It may be a quick fix to just reinstall the software using SDBINST but I'd let the support have a look on the system first. Without system access it's very difficult to suggest something.

yes.

looks fine to me.

Check knldiag in /sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>, maybe that will give us a hint why the database is not coming up.

This seems to be a MaxDB 7.7, here all the logs are in an XML file.

Logon as use <sid>adm, step to the directory and execute

protconv

This will convert the XML into a human readable format.

Yes.

Add the user ec6adm to the group sdba in /etc/group - logoff and log on and try again - or use user sqdec6.

Hello Franz,

You run u201C/sapdb/programs/bin/sdbregview u2013lu201D

And saw that you have invalid database software packages.

You started the program sdbregview with the option --set_corrupted_invalid and answered every question (to marked it as invalid) with yes ...

Did you follow Markus recommendation to reinstall invalid database packages?

You need the database software of the version 7.6.03.09 and access to the database server as root.

Could you please post the current output of u201C/sapdb/programs/bin/sdbregview u2013lu201D.

What was the version of the source database, which was crashed?

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
