Prerequisites for Creating BO Universe on SAP BW

Hi,

What are the prerequisites for creating universe with 1. BEx Query 2. SAP BW Objects (Infocube,DSO,Multiprovider etc).

for example : for accessing the data though BEx query, the option "Allow External Access to this Query" should be enabled.

Like wise are there any other prerequisites for accessing the data through above classified universe's.

First of all you should have installed the integration Kit for SAP solutions both on your BO server and your client machine (ie. where the UNiverse designer is installed on).

You should make sure to import the transports included in the installation package of the int.Kit into your SAP BW backend.

All the required authorization should be in place (check the installation guide of the integration kit http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000843912009E/xi31_sp2_bip_sap_install.pdf) for the SAP user you use to establish the universe connection between BO and SAP BW.

And as you mentioned you need to release the query for external access.

Please note that you can create a universe either on a BEX Query or on an infocube. Still SAP recommends to use the first option (BEx queries).

BTW another option is to build a relationla universe based on the data federator (separate product). The Data Federator provides you with a SAP BW connector, which allows you to retrieve data from an SAP BW system.
