Search in Originals

Dear All,

Is it possible to search within originals based on certain text and how is this achieved? Have tried it using CV04N unsuccessfully. Please guide.

Hi Sandeep,

Yes this is a feasible scenario and is termed as 'full text search' in SAP's search context.This utility aids an user to search for text within the original files. Its a TREX based search and hence the originals need to be indexed for keywords.Indexes speed up access to rows in a table.If the originals have been checked into the secure storage area with kPro,and have been subsequently keyword indexed,then you can perform a full text search.

To achieve this you need to utilize Index Mangement services(IMS).IMS offers functions that index and give attributes to any SAP docs in all file formats(suzh as .html,.doc etc). You can find these docs by variety of search strategies such as fuzzy search,Boolean,free text search et-al.You would need to consult a TREX expert(Portal Consultant?) in this context to get the service enabled.
