How connect FLEX and SAP R3 via RFC

Hi all
Can anybody tell me, how to connect the SAP R3 and FLEX via RFC.
Is this possible or can only be via webservice?

The only way I've seen it done before is by calling web services, same as developing an SAP-interfacing application for mobile devices. Check out the following article for some good tips and examples for developing an iPhone application, which could also be used for developing a Flex application:
