Problem with sapcar when installing ECC 5.0

We are trying to install SAP ECC 5.0 on a V5R2 270 iSeries. When we run the SAPinst tool, once we have entered the configuration data, we immediately get an error message when the installation process begins. The messages that we get are:

Output of /usr/sap/SAPinst/SAPCAR64/SAPCAR -x -v -g -i -flat -R /QSYS.LIB/SITMP8.LIB -f /CDSINST50/51034857_1/NW04_SR1_6.40_KERNEL_DB2_F._ISERIES/K01/OS400/AS400/V5R2M0/R3OPT.SAR,:

MUT-03011 Execution of the command "/usr/sap/SAPinst/SAPCAR64/SAPCAR -x -v -g -i -flat -R /QSYS.LIB/SITMP8.LIB -f /CDSINST50/51034857_1/NW04_SR1_6.40_KERNEL_DB2_F._ISERIES/K01/OS400/AS400/V5R2M0/R3OPT.SAR," finished with return code -1073740825. Output:

It seems that it fails when the system tris to unpack the kernel file. We have also tried to run the sapcar program manually from a qsh session, but it also fails, and if we try to run sapcar with no parameters, the error message says that an error has been found when trying to run command sapcar: no such path or directory. We havealso checked the installation directory sapinst/SAPCAR64, and there are one directory: ext (which is empty), and two stmf: sapcar and os4apilib.so.

Any idea of what we could look at?

Thanks,

Jose

Hi Jose,

in theory, this is supported, but you do not do yourself ANY favour ;-(((

reasons:

- 270 is not fast enough for SAP

- V5R2 is not supported by IBM => you will not receive any corrections anymore

- ECC5 is old as well - you should use at least ecc6, better ecc6 ehp4 - that requires at least V5R3 and best would be 6.1

good luck,

Hi Volker,

We know that the HW/SW are not the good ones, but it is an old AS/400 that we have, and we wanted to use it as a test system. Anyway, thanks for your comments.

Hi my friend

Since V5R2 is a pretty old version I would suggest to make sure you're using the latest installation master for kernel 640, and also please compare the control xml you're using to the one attached in this note:

Note 701226 - INST: SAP Web AS 6.40 on IBM eServer iSeries

Hi,

I have checked the points that you suggested, and everything appears to be fine, but the SAPCAR still does not work.

Thanks,

Jose
