Webdynpro - Not using localhost

Hi folks, can anyone help with this problem. I am learning webdynpro from the netweaver minisap system 7.01. My problem is this: When I test my application, my browser (IE8) (Windows 7 Pro) opens with the SAP login screen. Having entered ID etc I then get the error below.

Error when processing your request

What has happened?

The URL http://vaio:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zz_00_sflight was not called due to an error.

The termination type was: RABAX_STATE

My browser URL is:

http://vaio:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zz_00_sflight?sap-system-login-basic_auth=X&sap-client=001&sap...

Now, IF I change u2018vaiou2019 (my computer name) to 'localhost' and retry, the application executes fine.

I have installed the loopback adapter.

My IP4 settings are:

168.192.0.10

255.255.0.0

Preferred DNS server: 127.0.0.1

My hosts file is:

127.0.0.1 localhost

#10.10.0.10 Vaio

#168.192.0.10 localhost

#10.10.0.10 localhost

I used TX SMICM to check the host name:

icm/host_name_full = vaio

I looked at TX RZ10 with a view to changing the parameter. No profiles existed and I am not well acquainted with this area so I left it alone!!

So the problem is u201Chow do I get u2018localhostu2019 into the URL and not u2018vaiou2019?u201D

Itu2019s probably quite a simple answer to you experts out there so thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers, Fool

The instance profile parameter icm/host_name_full controls what value is used in the generation of URLs. The problem with vaio as your hostname is that it isn't a fully qualified domain name.

Localhost is a special expection to the FQDN check that has been coded specifically into the trial edition software. Either use localhost as your host_name_full setting or change the current value to a fully qualified domain.

The legend! Thomas Jung!!

Thomas, thanks for your answer. After I had "fiddled" around with the system and screwed it up completely, I re-installed it (always a traumatic event especially getting rid of the old system) and changed the parameters in notepad (the line that shows the URL). It ran the test dynpro "hello world" perfectly. Problem solved.

Many thanks, Paul
