Differences in NW70 and NW70 EHP upgrade kits?

Former Member

I was planning on doing a test upgrade of a copy of our ECC 5.0 system with a NW70 SR3 kit. Now I'm wondering if it would be better to use the latest NW70 EHP kit.

Are there improvements to the upgrade process I will be missing by not using a EHP kit?

thanx

You can't upgrade ECC 5.0 to "NW 7.01", you have to upgrade to ERP 6.0 (using Solution Manager), here you can choose whether you want to install EHP4 or not.

Our company merely needs to move from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0. I currently have the ERP 6.0 SR3 DVDs.

I'm good with those, right?

Hi Mark,

as mentioned from Markus already:

You need ECC adn NOT NW Kits for your upgrade.

There you do have 2 choices:

- ECC 6.0 SR3 - if you want to go to ECC6.0 WITHOUT any Enhancement Pack ...

- BS7 SR1 - if you want to include EHP4 for ECC6.0 ...

As ECC6 is from 2005 and all the new stuff in the in EHPs, "normal customers" prefer to install EHP4. It results in the same look&feel, but you would have the option, to activate function by function of your choice (or even nothing)

BS7 SR1 Kit is NOT supported w/o ANY EHP4 - this is technically possible, but not supported ...

Besides ending up with EHP4 are there any advantages to using the BS 7 SR1 kit?

Hi Mark,

no, for sure not !

It is a totally different upgrade kit ... that means: If you know the upgrade from the past, you would have to learn a lot ...

Normally ECC6 EHP4 would have been called ECC7.0 ... but because of political reasons, this was not done.

Therefore the question is eazy:

Do you want to upgrade from ecc5 to ecc6 or to ecc7 ... then you need the one or the other kit ...
