Hi,

What is the differnece between a KF semantic and a KF function ? Are both used to differentiate between KFs and do they have a 1:1 relationship ?

Hi GS,

Both Semantic and KF function does not have 1:1 relationship.

In a nut shell, Semantic is the term associated with key figure

maintained for each key figure which represents whether the

key figure is time series or order series

Key figure function is end user description of a key figure

written in business terms which denotes the meaning of the

data that it possess

Hope it is clear now.

Hi GS,

1. Key Figure Semantics

We need to assign a semantic to a key figure for read and write operations. A key figure is usually a freely definable "data container" that only takes on meaning once the key figure semantic has been assigned. We assign one key figure semantic to each key figure.

The system chooses the relevant key figures or checks them based on their semantic, depending on how we have configured the planning area.

The following sematics are available:

000 = Semantics for order objects in liveCache

001 = Semantics for the standard time series in liveCache

002 = Semantics for InfoCube key figures

100 - 399 = Semantics for SNP time series objects in liveCache (for SNP planning method: Supply and demand propagation)

401 - 699 = Semantics for DP BOM time series

999 = Semantics for key figures in planning areas that were generated by time series data management.

2. Key Figure Functions :

This Indicates the business meaning of a key figure for Supply Network Planning (SNP).

We have to assign a key figure function to key figures (that are to be considered during Supply Network Planning) in the planning area

SNP uses this business meaning to decide how to use a key figure during planning. For example, if you assign the business meaning Distribution Receipt for Deployment to the 9AFSHIP (DistrReceipt (Conf.)) key figure with key figure function 4005, Supply Network Planning uses this key figure to store and read distribution receipts for deployment.

The exact settings we made in the in the CatGrp and Category fields govern the types of order that are created or read for the key figure in liveCache (such as SNP planned order, deployment stock transfer, and so on). Therefore, the entries made in these fields should agree with the business meaning of a key figure. Furthermore, all planning object structures should use the same key figure function.

Both these have different purposes.

Secondly, there have 1:1 relationship meaning, we can assign only one semantic value and only one key figure function to a KF at a time. As explained, KF fucntion is relevant only for SNP KFs .

I hope this helps you.

Please confirm.
