Working with MS Office documents (.doc, .xls) from SRM system

Hi all!

We are implementing SRM 4.0 stand alone scenario (no backend at all). We have a requirement to run MS Office applications, to open doc and xls files from SRM and also to transfer data from SRM to MS Office applications.

We are using SAP GUI for HTML technology to solve development tasks and we are able to use open/save, upload/download functions for files. (We use Java, SAP GUI is not installed on customer's PC).

Can we use DOI technology in the same way to have a possibility of working with MS Office documents? If not, may be OLE technology can help us? May be you have examples or experience of using such technologies in the same conditions?

Hello Olga,

There are several technologies to integrate with Microsoft applications and SAP systems like Duet, .net Connector, BAPI OCX, Function OCX and RFC SDK etc. Please find the these keywords in SDN.

I would like to know the business scenario. Where do you want to integrate with Microsoft application? There are excel upload/download functions in Bid and Auction.
