Hi,

I am trying to access BO universe designer remotely. The ports 8080 and 6400 have been opened on the BO server remotely.

I am able to acess infoView and CMC on port 8080, however while accessing universe desinger on port 6400 using the system as <server>:6400 , username, password and authentication as Enterprise.

I get the error "Canot access repository (USR0013). [repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Transport error: Communication failure.(FWM 00001)

(hr=#0x80042a01)"

Please respond if you've faced similar problem and the resolution.

Thanks in advance.

Raman

Hi Raman,

I have come across this SAP Note 1264603 and 1201074.

Have a look at them. They might help you.

Within properties.Central Management server page of the Central Management Console there are "common settings" and a "request port" box where you need to specify the port numbers that are used for the CMS, Input File repository and Output File repository. Typically these would be set to 6401, 6402 & 6403.

Also need to make sure the Auto Assign tick box next to each of the request port boxes is unticked.

IF access the server remotely i.e. from outside the network then you will need to use the Nat IP address not the Net IP address too in the Hosts file of the remote p.c.

I would recommend take a look at the admin guide on how to setup your BOBJ server to work over a firewall.

What kind of authentication do you use when trying to log into the UNiverse Designer?

Enterprise Authentication is used while connecting. While I am able to conect inside the local company network while connecting remotely over internet gives this problem.

Can you access Universe Designer when you are on your network?

I assume you can but you cannot remotely.

CMC and InfoView works fine remotely because you open port for them but Universe Designer is client base that is why it does not work remotely not matter what port you open unless you have VPN connection established.

Establish VPN connection and then launch Universe Designer and it will work fine.

Thanks Bashir, However I found out a couple of folks reported over internet that they are able to connect BO designer by opening the ports.

We have opened all the ports starting from 6400 to 6420, nothing is working.

On your response looks like there is no other way except to be on the VPN. I find it strange that BO universe can't be connected this way. We have several other applications like BPC which are client based and we are able to work on them remotely by opening ports.

Are you absolutely sure of this? BO server is installed on a windows 2008 server machine.

Anyone else please respond if you've got the connectivity.

Thanks,

Raman

Hi Raman,

It is true that some client base application work without VPN. Even we have SAP BI, SOLMAN etc working without VPN but Universe designer never worked without VPN..

I will furhter check with Basis that how did they set it up.

Thanks for igniting the thoughts.
