as concern, typically or SAP recommend PRD only have one client.
1. technically, it is possible to have multi-client to have different organisation's data and some similar config. too. (assumed organizations are under one roof). found from help.sap.com (multi-client) that it is possible to separate the data, also noted. cross client's impact.
2. purpose to achieve so called "SAP shared services"
Questions:
3. Does SAP support this type of PRD environment ? Any existing customers using this strategy and
mind to share the negative impacts ?
4. Does it means that in license prospective, it is still consider as one installation no. just a matter of increase in the no. of user type's license + HR records or there are other consideration ?
5. alternatively, how feasible(pros and cons) for Multiple components in one database (MCOD) in NW04(ECC 6.0) to install as separate SAP instance.
Appreciate good technical advise or solution. Thanks in advance.
Steven,
yes, it's supported to use more than one client in PRD. the main impact is, that you have to make sure, that all clientindependant customizing data and repository objects can be used for all clients.
it's a quite common strategy in larger companies.
since your licenses are user-dependant, the number of clients won't affect anything
personally, I'm no friend of MCOD, because of the dependancies between the single databases. I feel better to separate every single database, for example because of backup issues.
