New product dev. and New vendor development

Hi experts,

In QM, i have a scenario to map for New Product development and New Vendor Development.

Please suggest how to logically map this in QM.

Dear Sourabh,

We have developed new product development process using Notification at one of our client. following are the details of that process, please check whether you can use this. You have to involve Quality,design ,SD and production people in this activity.

1) Create the separate Notification type for New development purpose and this has to be used for only developments.

2) Some prerequisites you have to get it created from your sales person, like create new customer, create inquiry for new product, create new material (sample material), create pricing condition, output condition and J1ID (if excisable material)

3) Sales person will go to QM01 and select that notification type created for new development say N1, and enter the sales order (inquiry number created earlier ), required data will be carried to notification from sales Inquiry.

4) you enter the sample material number created earlier in 'Material' field at reference object. You can also enter the details specs required by customer in 'Subject', also enter coding (NPD) new product development (you can maintain this in QS41)

5) Put the priority, responsible dept (say QM or D&d), Business area and release the notification and save the notification. Again go to same notification in change mode and send mail to concern departments say QM , D&D , PRD etc, you can write the subject and all details in the express mail and send that mail.

6) This mail will go to QM, here the person will check the specs written in that notification, study the possibility, prepare the plan and enter the decision in notification. If the product is some where near existing then he can accept and communicate it to marketing. then their process starts.

7) If it is entire new development the maintain the part name / revision and other details in Item >> overview ( you have to maintain all this in QS41 catalog) then select the part and go to 'tasks' tab

here again in QS41 you should maintain the tasks for product development so that you can select this here tasks may be

*Receipt of drawing

*Verification of specs by QM

*Feasibility check

*If not then development plan

*Tooling completed

*creation of sample material

• Sample preparation

• Approval by prd

• Final check by QM

• Handing over samples to sales for despatch

You have to enter all steps in product development as tasks (above is the ex) then one by one release, complete the tasks and finally when pilot samples are ready closed the notification.

Further sales will do sale part for that material and will send it to desired customer.

You have to make use of QS41 t code for maintaining lots of data, its interesting but works superbly.

New Product development :

1.Create a notification which will flow to Quality when new product is to be developed.

2.Create a Info record if it is externally procured.Alos you can activate the Status in QM procurement for the same.

3.Send this notification to Quality.

4.Quality will carry out the audit & make the remarks in the notification.

5.If product is approved quality will Extend the date in Quality infor record.

6.You can attach documents through DMS in Notification for additional information.

and New Vendor Development:

1.You can also create notification which will be initiated by purchase people & flow to the Quality people.

2.QUality will carry out audit

3.if approved qualty will create QInfo record.

4..You can attach documents through DMS in Notification for additional information.
