SQL Server not starting

Hi,

We have installed SAP CRM 7.0 on MSSQL Server 2008 with Windows 2003 64 Bit edition.

Installtion was done successfully. After restart the SQL Server is not starting and while connecting through Microsoft SQL Server Management Studia the system gives following error:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

If any one face the same issue please help us.

Thanks

LK

Please check your Windows event log for further information why the server is not coming up. Also check that the SQLAgent is running.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

Now problem has been solved and I want to share the solution for others future use.

Some one enabled the hardware compression on the drive where the tempdb space was allocated to database. After removing the compression the database started.

Thanks

Please check the Error log file.

the default path for the error log is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG

(unless you have installed SQL Server in other drive, look under MSSQL folder in that drive)
