SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 upgrade from R/3 4.7 NUC

We have R/3 System which is 4.7 Non-Unicode. We are not using MDMP and only have single code page. Can I upgrade directly to Non-unicode version of ERP 6.0 EHP4 or do I need to use CU & UC. I read some where that EHP4 cannot be used on Non-Unicode versions.

Hi *

I've been reading this thread and our scenario is that we have three years ago upgraded from 4.6 to ECC 6 and now would like to go to EHP4 or 5 on a NUC system.

I have read that ramping up to EHP4 can be done on a NUC system is this true?

Secondly should we go to EHP5 is can we still use a NUC system?

You don't have to do unicode conversion, kernel 70x has non-unicode version.

You cannot directly upgrade to or newly install an ERP 6.0 with EHP4, instead you need to upgrade to ERP 6.0 and then use EHPI to install EHP4.

I know that we can include the EHP 4 packages during the upgrade (4.7 to 6.0) for Unicode. Is it different for Non-Unicode upgrade ?

Do I need to have Solution Manager MOPZ configured to include the EHP 4 during the upgrade as I do not want to perform selective install ?

Yes...you need Solman on EhP1 & MOPZ configured.

Plus you'd need to select what Business functions are needed & MOPZ would accordingly select the appropriate files from SWDC.

Have a nice day,

Yes, we do run a productive ECC6 EHP4 NON Unicode system.

we run ECC 6.0 with EHP4 in nuc mode... but we upgraded from 4.7 to ECC6 SR2 without EHP.

2 years later, we installed EHP4. We are still non-unicode.

I don't think that you can upgrade to EHP4 directly

If you don't use Portal or other Java application that's fine. As soon as Java comes into place the backend system must be Unicode:
