Hi,
I have installed ECC 6.0 SR3 IDES on win2k3 with mssql 2005, while performing post-installation activity and scheduling standard jobs it throws error: Error saving job to database. and exits, I checked SM21 log for it and it says there could be some connectivity problem with database. I checked SM28 and SICK and it reported no error. Please help how can I schedule the standard jobs.

From my experience, this may be caused by inconsistency in your operation mode.
Please check the operating mode configuration and profiles in rz03 and rz04.
Try re-defining the OP mode as per SAP note 82655. Also SAP note 124913.

You got following message which scheduling standard job.
'Error when saving job XXXXXXXX to the database' (BT 117).
Reson behind that is you do not select the job name with the input help but you enter it manually in the 'Job name' field.
try following
SM36 -> Standard job -> Reorg. job -> Default scheduling.

what is the exact error message?
I had a similar error after a database refresh. there were no background processes running.
go into RZ11 and check value for parameter rdisp/wp_no_btc
also check BTC processes in SM50

Well I think it could be problem due to space but there is 50gb and 75 gb of free space available in 2 drives...please suggest..
