Support Package Stack Guide

SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Including Enhancement Package 1 SPS 05 refers to the SAP note no:

891895 which tells about the memory space of :

Patching Java components

SCA files from the Inbox directory are handed over to SDM (7.0) or Deploy Controller (7.1) for deployment. Let us assume that the total size of the SCAs is S.

NW 7.0

At least 2S space is required under SDM/root directory. In addition, S space will be needed temporarily under SDM/program/temp directory during deployment. So, you will need 3S in total under the SDM directory.

NW 7.1

At least 2*S space is required under j2ee directory.

Also, depending on the specific components, various Java Engine containers could need additional disk space.

Now, I followed a different approach. I upgraded the SAP NetWeaver in three phases:

The components upgraded in phase 1 are:

EPBC205_0-10005895

The deployment was a success.

Now, I want to deploy all components mentioned in two phases as I don't have Windows

Backup and the physical memory in E:\ drive is slightly less than required memory needed

in E:\ by 40 mb.

Please tell me the pattern I should follow.

I want to deploy all core components by JSPM in first go and then the secondary components.

Also, do I need to place the older components (deployed) in E:\usr\sap\trans or putting

the new components with SPSTab.xml should be sufficient.

Please let me know.

Hi all,

I solved it by doing it in three phases.

Could give it to anybody who needs to know it?

Hi Kaushik,

We're in the process of ungrading SAP NW 7.0 to EhP1 SP6. Would it be possible if you could share your knowledge or documentation.

Thanks so much,

David

Hi,

Why you have not patched to SP6 directly instead of patching first to SP5 ? Java Patches are cumulative so you can patch from SP4 to SP 6 directly.

If space is constraint then first patch all basic J2ee components then whatever additional usage type you have installed on system.

Thanks

Hi Sunny,

The list which I gave in the top is the list which comes from Service Marketplace when I go to download the patches.

Could you list me the core components?

I am writting the list of core components to my knowledge.

BASETABLES05_0-20002779.SCA

CORETOOLS05_0-20002784.SCA

Please let me know if I am missing anything.

This is the list of main components best of my knowledge.

Also, there are .SAR files which needed to be extracted by the SAPCAR.

Hi Kaushik,

Follow your previous approach, you will succeed.

Give me points if the answer is correct.

No components is core.

You can deploy any component by SDM.

Hi Ramakrishna,

You may be right.

All components can be deployed by SDM.

But there are some core components.

I think my list is fine.

Also, I need to know whether I need to put the older components in E:\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in

or just putting the new components with SPSTab.xml is fine.

Please let me know.

I need more replies.

Hi,

Core components are EP, EPCore and NW Java. Addtional usage types are like BI Java, PI etc. whiich you have installed. If you install a plain NW stack that components which will come is NW Java, EP and EP core but if you have installed addtional usage types you can upgrade it once core components are upgraded.

As I can see you are not upgrading whole stack then whats the purpose the use SPStab.xml file.

There is no need for old patches in EPS/in. As I mentioned earlier Java patches are cumulative.

Thanks

Hi Sunny,

Did I mention the components in the list?

If not please specify.

Hi,

Go to SMP on support pack download (Select your source and target release) and select usage type there as NW Java, EP and EP Core then it will show what all file comes in this then upgrade it in one go and rest other usage type install in other go.

Thanks

Sunny
