Unicode Kernel 4.70

Hello,

we're looking for a unicode system 4.70. Does anybody has experience with a unicode kernel under a "normal" 4.70 R/3 system ? is that even possible ?

Unicode kernel works only for unicode system, it doesn't work if the system (BC layer) is not unicode.

does this mean, that I do have to order an unicode enterprise system by SAP ? we hoped that it would be possible to change only the non-unicode with an unicode kernel.

Hello Christian,

yes. A Unicode System is a migration because the Database has also to be unicode enabled. It's not just exchanging the kernel. You can find more information at http://service.sap.com/globalization.

hi,

yes, it's possible to install r/3 enterprise 4.70 as unicode system.

but you have to take care, that most (all?) transports won't work between unicode & non-nicode systems.

Hello Christian,

our new CRM System is installed on Web AS 6.20 Unicode. There was one problem with a Search Help where we see only Cryptic Characters and another with a external JCo connection. But in total we have no problems.
