BR*Tools 7.20

Former Member

Dears,

Iu2019m trying to obtain the BR*Tools version 7.20 from the SAP Service Marketplace following the procedure described in Notes 12741 and 19466, but I can't find it.

Note u201C12741 - Current versions of BR*Tools and SAPDBAu201D says this:

> The BR*Tools 7.00, 7.10, and 7.20 are available on SAP Service Marketplace as an SAPCAR archive.

> Separate versions of BR*Tools for SAP Kernel Realese 7.0X and 7.1X (for example, 7.01 or 7.11) are not delivered.

> Use the relevant Basis Versions 7.00, 7.10, or 7.20.

But a 7.20 Basis version doesnu2019t exist?!?!

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your suggestions,

Regards,

Federico Biavati

Hi Rachel,

> Brtools 7.20 is available on the servicemarket place at the following link

this may work internally @ SAP but for external customers that file is neither visible nor can it be found by searching.

Hi Markus,

The link is the same as what's listed in the oss note #12741.

I have had several customer's who have used it with sucess in the past for downloading different versions of the Brtools

I don't deny that

> I have had several customer's who have used it with sucess in the past for downloading different versions of the Brtools

I can download the 7.10 tools but not the 7.20 (they are simply not visible). Maybe those customers have (had) special permissions on those files.

I can second that. When going via the path from the note, the highest visible kernel release is 7.11. 7.20 is not visible. When searching for patches, search for DBATL710 returns 24 results, search for DBATL720 - nothing. So may be they are there, but not visible to the ordinary customers.

Dear All,

I confirm that the 7.20 tools are NOT visible.

Hello All,

I received an update on this issue today. As the Brtools 720 are not visible for some Customer's the Development Colleagues have created sapmats links in the oss note 12741 for each Operating System. As the German version of the note for the moment contains the links I have placed them below for your convenience. The current availability is Brtools 720 patch 3. The next patch will be released in July/August.

IA32 means "Intel Architecture 32bit" - and yes, Intel (and compatible CPUs) are referred to IA32 as such sometimes.

Hi Markus,

If I have kernel 7.00 but oracle 11g , Can I use BRTOOLS 7.20?

Because DB Stats are not working and show me an error.

Should I just replace the br* or the other files too from DBA*.SAR file . For example libsbt.so

I decompress DBA*.SAR only

Thanks.

Hi,

What your existing SAP Kernel release level in use?

IF you are running with SAP Kerlel 7.10, the latest available BR*tools for SAP Kernel 7.10 release is DBATL710O10_30-10004216.SAR ( DBATOOLS Package for Oracle 10g).

Upon availability of SAP Kernel 7.20 on SMP, the BR*Tools 7.20 will be available to download.

Hello Bhavik,

> Upon availability of SAP Kernel 7.20 on SMP, the BR*Tools 7.20 will be available to download.

That sounds strange to me.

I didn't find any note or document saying that.. Where did you find that information?

As per note Note 1436352 "Oracle 11g Advanced Compression for SAP Systems":

> The following prerequisites have to be met to use the advanced compression features of Oracle:

>

> Oracle 11.2.x

> Advanced Compression Option (Customers who acquired the Oracle license directly from Oracle need to purchase this extra option)

> SAP Kernel 6.40 and higher

> SAP BRSPACE 7.20 and higher

And, in the same note you can find:

> The Oracle Advanced Compression option supported for all SAP systems from 6.40 on contains the following features:

So:

- Itu2019s possible to implement the "Oracle Advance Compression" with kernel 6.40

- BR*Tools 7.20 is necessary

That means to me that I should be able to run BR*Tools 7.20 with a system running a kernel > or equal to 6.40

What's your opinion?

Thanks,

Hi,

You can user BR*Tools 7.20 for all SAP releases that run with an Oracle 10g database or (after installing the Oracle Instant Client 10g on the Oracle 9.2 database server) an Oracle 9.2 database

SAP Note 12741 - Current versions of BR*Tools and SAPDBA (which you have already followed.)

part 2.1 Version 7.00, 7.10, and 7.20

Conclusion: BR Tools are DB specific and not dependent on SAP Kernel or Release.

Hi,

You should download brtools according to your basis release. As I have seen on service market place, latest release of brtools for 700 release is DBATL700O10_46-20000979.SAR DBATOOLS Package for Oracle 10g 46

Thanks
