Hi to all.
I have a Question.
We run SAP 5.0 on IBM System i 5 Servers, and on the coming weekend we will be Upgrading this Servers resources (New processors, more memory and more disk units). After a Full backup before the upgrade, i will be restoring the data on the same Server Upgraded (same serial number), so, do you know if i need to get new the Product keys?
Thanks in advance
Benito Lupercio
Hello Benito
As long as the system serial number does not change... DSPSYSVAL QSRLNBR, your SAP license will not need to be changed.
Only if you are doing a hardware upgrade under some circumstances you would need to ask IBM whether your hardware change is going to change the serial number or not.

Hi my friend
License key is determined by hardware key and installation number. So in your case I'm 90% sure it won't change, but I've also seen it changes on a Windows host after replacing a storage fiber adapter...... Anyway, the worse case that you need to apply a new one which won't take more than 10mins nowadays.
