Problems printing

Dear Forum,

I have a collegue in the US who cant print. I have set up his printer in SPAD like the rest of the printers. I'm using access method "C", hostprinter syntax is:
<printservername>\<printername>. Hostname is servername of the ERP system. The printer is a Xerox phaser 3500, but device type is set to KOC650A1: bizhub C650 Series PCL (the xerox should be PCL compatible, however I dont think this should be the problem). I can ping the printerserver from the SAP server. If anyone has a suggestion why this setup doesnt work please let me know.

Here is a copy of the log:

SAP spool error log

=====================

Print request processing log

The host spool is reporting errors

Windows/NT error 1722 [
XXXXXXXXX\PRNXXXXXXXX]: "The RPC server is unavailable."

Errors occurred processing this print request

Error during print request output. l_rc = 1

There may be no printout

And another one:

Message: Windows/NT error 1722 [
XXXXXXXXX\PRNXXXXXX] "The RPC server is unavailable."

Date: 13.04.2010

Time: 18:08:16

Job status: Completed

Error class: Error

Area: Data transfer

Printout: Not printed

Message recognition SAP-T100

Hi

Additionally, for access method C SAP support printing only if trhe printer queue

exists on the SAP server (where the spool workprocess is running).

Printing directely into a printer share is neither supported by

SAP nor by Microsoft. It can work but we cannot guarantee.

SAP note 199447 NT: Probl.during WAN print w. access method 'C'

thanks

Hi,

While printing from your end just try to open lpstat window in the command prompt, you will come to what the exact error is?

Please check with the services "print spooler & RPC" whether it is started in the machine which you are to trying to print!!!!

Hello All,

I found the problem and just wanted to let you know the solution. The printer isnt supported by SAP (doh), so I'll try to have him print with locl instead to use microsoft windows drivers.

Thanks for you time!

Kind regards,

Hi Asoren,

Please note that printer 3500 is supported!!!

Look at www.xeroxofficesapsolutions.com

Follow instructions in document

QuickInstallStepsDeviceTypesV43-Enterprise.pdf and download the correct Xerox printer device type

Problem should be solved

Kind regards,

Hi Soeren,

What is the Windows version of you Print Server and SAP Server ?

Your problem is described in below Microsoft Article. See if it helps you...

If the above doesn't resolve your issue, ask your OS admin to check if the end user is having permission to print on the print server...

Regards.
