Hi,
I have gone thru this blog which explains the difference between FTPs and SFTP..
/people/krishna.moorthyp/blog/2007/07/31/sftp-vs-ftps-in-sap-pi
what I understand is by default..in PI 7.1 we will have to use FTPs...am i right??
also..as XI developer..what additional configurations do I have to do???
any guide on this?
and do i have to install the cryptogaphy tool kit??
pls shae ur ideas...
if you want to use FTPS, then all you need to do is to install the Certificate in the Server (Trusted CAs) and then do the adapter configuration to enable FTPS

Hi Teja,
You need to do few configurations for using FTPs. Some of them are mentioned here:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/f1/2de3be0382df45a398d3f9fb86a36a/frameset.htm
Once you are done you will create the certificate and then send to your CA and get them signed. Once they signed you can install them and use your comm channel.

You can simply use FTP as well. Among FTPS and SFTP, FTPS is the standard option available.
There is no visual admin in 7.1 right???
Correct.
can we do it in NWA??? the creation of public private key and its export??
Yes, we can.

Hi Ravindra,

there is an option in channel configuration, 'connection security' where we can select FTPS(using SLS/TLS)
please refer sap help doc for more details
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/Helpdata/EN/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
there is an option to choose : X.509 Certificate for Client Authentication
You will be asked for keystore and certificate and private key ,the corresponding
key/certificate pair must previously be saved in a keystore view of the J2EE server by
using the Visual Administrator.
please refer the following forum post for more information

Hi,
without any additionally 3th party adapter you will not be able to use SFTP.
In cases were we need SFTP, we save the messages to file system and transfer it to
the destination like described in blog. Alternativ you can buy an adapter that can do
SFTP directly.
I just read that you also needed the crypto lib for FTPS. I just needed the lib for
HTTPS in HTTP adapter.
regards.
