Univ Created on MySQL and Importing in Oracle10g

Former Member

Hello,

We have a universe which we had created using BOXIR3.1 and MySQL as CMS database. Then I created the BIAR file for the reports and universe migration.

Now I am trying to import that BIAR file in another BOXIR3.1 system which is using the Oracle10g as CMS database.

My Question:

1. Is it possible?

Problems I am Facing:

1. Universe are getting imported on new machine but without .unv file?

2. How should I proceed if I want the universes imported successfully?

Yes, this is possible and should work just fine.

Can you explain a bit on the problems you're facing ?

You said Import works, but what happens next ?

Can you refresh reports imported ?

Can you open migrated universe in Designer ?

What is the patch level of source env and patch level of destination env ? (if source has higher/newer patch level - it could be a problem)

Hello,

Thanks for the response!! Please find my comments inline.

You said Import works, but what happens next ?

San> Universe is imported, but when I look into the properties of Universe from CMC, it doesn't shows the file name (.unv) which should be attached with universe.

Can you refresh reports imported ?

San> No, I can't and when I try to refresh the reports, they cause my WebIntelligence server to stop. Then I have to restart the BO services manually from the Solaris Box.

Can you open migrated universe in Designer ?

San> No I cant. It says "There is no Universe file attached to the Universe InfoObject" -- [OK] Button

and then 2nd message displays as press the [OK] button says

"Could not import the universe" --- [OK] button

What is the patch level of source env and patch level of destination env ? (if source has higher/newer patch level - it could be a problem)

Destionation server info shows it's XI3.1 RTM.

What about source environment ?

What options do you select when creating BIAR file ?

How many objects are being migrated ?

What happens if you export to biar just one universe - will it import properly ?

Are those linked universes by any chance ?

Hi,

Destionation server info shows it's XI3.1 RTM.

What about source environment ?

San> I am not sure about the source, because someone else had created that.

What options do you select when creating BIAR file ?

How many objects are being migrated ?

What happens if you export to biar just one universe - will it import properly ?

Are those linked universes by any chance ?

San> No they are not.

One more point I would like to mention here that, when I import I upload the BIAR file on some other machine, which is having BOXIR3.1 on windows and MySQL as CMS database, then everything works fine.

BIAR file when created, that time source system was also using MySQL as CMS database.

Is this issue is coming because of different CMS databases, as per best of my knowledge it should not affect but I am not sure on this?

type of CMS DB should not make any difference here.

This needs to be properly investigated, please open a support ticket.

Your source environment is Xi3.0

Version numbers are like this 12.0.0.683 first 2 digits are product version, in this case 12 , which is XI 3, second digit is service pack version, in this case 0 (XI3.0), it will be 1 for Xi3.1 and 2 for X3.1 Sp2, third digit is fix pack number, here it's 0, means you have no patches , last 3 digits are build number.
