What is the need for integrating external tools with eCATTs?

Hello,

Kindly explain the need for integrating external tools (like QTP, TP) with ecatts as these tools can also work in standalone mode? Are there any distinct advantages of doing this integration apart from connection to central repository?

Hello Ranjini

eCATT tool is majorly used for the automation of the SAPGUI screens. Now with the addition of WEBDYNPRO command it is possible to automate the WEBGUI and Webdynpro screens as well. But eCATT has limitations. It is not possible to automate the Adobe forms (PDFs), Screens other than SAPGUI, WEBGUI and Webdynpro. During such cases we decide to automate them using the external tools such as QTP, Test Partner etc:- This arises the need for integrating external tools with eCATT.
