Naveen,

Which SP are you on.

From SP14 onwards , ALert Framework is made independent of End to End Monitoring . Check the note 870232 for this info.

ALso, check the note 913858.

Hi ,

The most important thing when you are defining your alert categories is how you want to categorise them...Based on hte Interface or based on the Product which you are interfacing.

for example, you might want all the errors related to a interface go in to one categories.

Or you might divide the ALert categories based on the Products you are interfacing with. eg. CRM system, SAP system, legacy system etc.

ALso, make sure that your Alert rules are not overlapping when you create them.

The better you design them the more readable they are.

vijaya kumari,

Do the user need any other roles to create alert categories.

I tried to create one and save it. Then there is a pop-up telling that "You dont have permission to save"..kind of thing.

I have seen in help.sap.com that the user needs to have a role, SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR to create alert categories in tcode ALRTCATDEF or

in RWB> Alert Configuration

Hi

the roles reuired to access the RWB are:

1. SAP_XI_RWB_SERV_USER

2. SAP_XI_RWB_SERV_USER_MAIN

The roles for the Alert Management are:

1. SAP_ALM_ADMINISTRATOR

2. SAP_ALM_CUSTOMIZER

3. SAP_BC_ALM_ALERT_USER
