Impact of SP 15 to SP21 upgradation.

Hi All,

We need to upgrade our Portal from SP 15 to SP 21, and hence we need to analyse what will be the impact of the upgradation. Though we are going to upgrade and test the same in Dev and Qual Servers in our landscape, we need to be cautious of the same.

Want to know what measures should we take before the upgradation and what could be the impact of the same on ESS MSS BPs, UWL, KM, Java... etc components.

Also i want to know whether this upgradation will effect Portal speed/performance as the current Prod Servers performance/speed is very slow.

Hi,

For the Java stack upgrade, you may directly go forward to SPS21.

For most of BPs, it more dependence on your back-end patch level.

Upgrade to the latest SPS is not mean that performance issue will be resolved or affect the performance. Depending on the bug that could be resolved with latest SPS. Here the note that you might interested to read SAP Note: 1417476

The note was helpful, but is there any patch or SP level (>15) which fixes the portal components like UWL etc bugs/issues.

Also can we have similar notes on the Levels > 15.

Hi,

Its depending on the issue/bugs that you are facing in the current SPS. Some bug you may need to apply the single patch instead of SP stack.

I would suggest if you have specific bugs/issue in your current system, please get in touch with SAP OSS.

We are on NW04s SP 15 and want to upgrade to SP 21.

Any links on the Release notes..?
