Creating Master data in SAP APO for PPDS

Hi Gurus,

I am trying to create master data and transaction data in APO for prototype. Please let me know the steps?

It will be really great if any one can help me. Step by steps which need to create first and which master is dependedent on other. In PPDS i am planning to use dynamic pegging on 1month time buckets in days.

1.First i started with lotion (production plant) creation

2. I am planning to create Product

Please if any one can help me it will really great.

While creating Products in APO how can i defferentiate FG and rawmaterial and components? please let me know

I am not using ECC . Please your guidence will be very important

Kumar,

Depends on what functionality you will be using. Generally, a material is a material. You may elect to treat it differently, because it is, say, a raw material or a finished goods, but APO doesn't really care about such categorizations.

For instance:

RM is more likely to be purchased, FG is more likely to be manufactured. Exceptions exist.

RM is more likely to use consumption type planning, FG is more likely to use demand type planning. Exceptions exist

RM is more likely to be a component in a BOM, FG is more likely to be a header in a BOM. Exceptions exist.

Since you are not linked to an ERP, you can choose one of the un-used fields in the product master to identify material types if you so desire.

This is the order in which you can create the master data.

Location

Product

Assign product to location.

Resource

Transportation Lanes

PPM or PDS

Quotas.

Any product interchangeability you would like to configure.
