IS it possible to matain BOM in alternative unit.?
For Ex. X ---Header material
X1 ---component
X2---Component
X is a header material and BUM is LIT and alternative unit is KG
I want to maintain BOM of header material in KG not in LIT
But system is automatically fetch BUM LIT in bom
Is possible to change that unit ?
Kinbdly help
Harish,
The BOM will be maintained always with base unit of measurement.
May I know why do you want to have alternative UOM there?

Harish,
The base UOM is maintained at the client level & not at plant level.
So even if other plant WANT to maintain the BOM in alternative UOM, it can not be done.
Beside this the BOM is the master data which you need to maintain once.
I assume that your R&D dept. does produce the FG base on alternative UOM.
So you can tackle this by using concept of 'Production unit' in work schduling view.
That means even though the BOM is in base UOM the order will be created in order unit with due requirement of all the components.
Hope this helps you.

Hello, and I apologise if my answer is a little late, but all you have to do is maintain the production unit in the 'Work Scheduling' view of MM02.
In the 'General Data' tab, update the 'Production Unit' field with the UOM which you would like to create the BOM.
As long as the 'Additional Data' Units of Measure is updated in MM02 for the raw material, this should fix your problem.

just wonder whether we can modify the base qty to suit your need.
just check if the below logic is helpful to u.
say, your base UOM is kg,
so 1 kg is .95 lt , so 1 lt is 1.05kg.
so change the base qty to 1.05kg in BOM so that will reflect 1 lt.
hope this helps
