Inquiries about certain JAVA services running

Former Member

Dear Experts,

I found that these sendmail, tftp, daytime, bootps services are running in my GRC server which is installed as JAVA.

1.)May I know what's the objective of those services?

2.)Can it be deactivated? What is the impact if do so?

3.)How to deactivate those services?

Appreciate your answers, thanks.

tftp service is for TFTP server which is usually used for upload/download of images and configurations to network

explanation of daytime service is given here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DAYTIME

sendmail servcie is used for the mailing purpose/email server.

bootp service allows a client to get boot information such as its own ip address etc..

None of these are j2ee engine services but OS level services used for diferent purposes. Depending on the need a system admin can decide if they want to keep them enabled or not.

You'll find lot of articles on internet if you search for disable & service name.

Hope this helps.

Snehal

Hi Lee,

Where exactly are you seeing these services running? In the Engine or in Windows?
