ECC 6.0 SR3 with MaxDB

Former Member

Hi,

I am installing ECC 6.0 SR3 with MaxDB on win2k3 server. The sapinst ran in

the phase of Create Database Schema for more then 12hrs, I stopped and ran

it again this morning and it is running since 5 hrs, as I am using MaxDB for

first time, I do not have any idea if it really takes this much time to

install. I checked and found CPU utilization 100%. I am paisting sapinst log

here:

Hi Mridul,

I am having the same problem you had and yes I used an @ in the password for the user accounts. Can you share what SAP helped you with?

Kind Regards,

Hi Mridul Gupta,

Facing very similar run times for ECC IDES (MaxDB 7.6.03 / Red Hat Linux 5 on x86_64) installation. Running the Create Datbase Instance step for over 8 hrs now.

Also, a Solution Manager 7.0 Install on MaxDB/Linux took over 2 days and a EP Instance on same OS/DB takes over 36 hrs.

I see you had this fixed with SAP Consulatation help.

Would you be able to help us here??

Thanks

Hi mridul,

4 GB RAM

CPU is not even 10% utilized.

I have restarted the same with a new version of sapinst downloaded from SAPNet

Let me send you logfiles when I get back to this state.

Thanks

Hello Mridul,

we are facing a similar problem during phase "alter database schema" performing an SAP installation/system copy of ERP 6.0 SR3 with MaxDB. SAPinst hangs in phase "alter database schema" and is consuming 50% of the CPU constantly without further noticable activities.

Could you please tell us, how your problem has been solved? Thank you.

Best regards,

Andreas

Hi,

the kernel.exe is to do with calling the database.....

Now as it is consuming your CPU you have a choice to wether stop the service and restart sapinst to see if it fixes it.

Seems to gone mad and is running away...

Hope this helps
