Material proposal

Hello!

Our client requests the functionality on Sales Order, when entering a product number, the system to suggest the alternative item. Something like a window pop-up with proposal of the other item, matched somewhere in the table as the substitute.

Product Proposal and Material exclusion lists are useless in this case. Variant configuration requires material tyle KMAT which is out of consideration.

Do you know any other way to do it? Preferably standard....

I think you can use Material Determination for this purpose.

You create a material determination record using T Code VB11. Material entered - Material determined - Substitution reaosn 0001.

If you need any other specific tables / access sequences you can use the condition technique for the material determination.

In the Substitution reasons definition ( T Code OVRQ) , for 0001 , in the column "Strategy" select A.

Now you can try processing an order and you will get the popup with selections

Hi,

have you considered cross selling?

You can assign several materials to a single material. In your sales order, once entered this single material system will show a pop-up with the list of assigned materials where you can enter quantities only for those you really want to work with and then only those will be copied in your sales order.

Have u tried to maintain the condtion record for substitution in VB11. Please try this.

Maintain Reason for material substitution as 0004

If you want to go for standard, then you should consider material determination.

In this case and after doing the configuration, and maintaining the relevant records, the system at sales order entry will substitue your entered material number with that you have specified in the condition record.
