Remaining shelf life check during automatic batch determination .

Dear Friends ,

In the delivery item , automatic batch determination happened and system assigned a certain batch , and the batch master record of this batch shows shelf life expiry date as some date in Feb 2011 ie less than 1 year from now .

But as per batch determination analysis system picked up a customer speicific batch record ie shipping point / customer . For this record ( VCH3 ) in the characteristics " Remaining shelf life " is given a vlaue as > 500 days . This clearly means that system assigned a wrong batch .For a customer who requires batch with shelf life expiry date with more than 500 days in future , it assigned a batch which expires in less than one year .

Ideally system should not confirm any quantity because there is no batch with >500 days shelf life and wait for such a batch to come into the stock .

In OMJ5 check is not maintaned for the plant involved and it is standard sales process which is at work ,

Please help me understand where is it going wrong or what needs to be done to achieve the above scenario .

Dear Raghav,

I hope your problem is resolved by now, otherwise please update the standard charecterstics again using the BMSM tcode. The Charecterstic LOBM_RLZ will have a action object dependency LOBM_UBD assigned to it which will help to calculate the Remaining shelf life dynamically.

Hi,

Please check the Classification Maintained in MM03 for the material in MM03 and for the batch in MSC3N IS same or not. If Both are same only batch strategy works properly otherwise it will pick wrong batch some times.

The classification in materila master and batch master is identical .

To give you more details of the situation , none of the avialble batches with quanity has suitable remaining shelf life . Therefore system is picking up certain batch as per sort rule but it is not supposed to pick any batch but wait for the appropriate batch to arrive in the stock .

Would appreciate your valuble inputs.
