Managed System Configuration - Assign Diagnostic Agent

Hi SolMan Guru's

I'm setting up a new Solution Manager system and have come to the Managed System Configuration - Assign Diagnostic Agent step.

On the Managed System Configuration page, I clcik on the "Open URL" button for the Assign Diagnostic Agent step. The Agent Administration page opens up, I click on Agent Candidates Management and the System Landscape Directory page appears.

In the SLD View tab, I can see the SMD Hostname, but on the SMD View tab there is nothing.

(Should not there be an entry for SMD as well? How do I make it appear?)

When I click on the Connection Parameters button I do have 3 entries, Local SLD of SOlution Manager - (Read-only Access), sid Solution Manager SLD Connection (that I'd created) and a Custom SLD Connection Parameters selection. When clicking the Advanced Settings button and going to SLD Connection Mangement screen and running the Connection Check, each is successful.

But when in the SLD View tab the entry has a state of Access has been denied by the managing system. Check user/password and try again.

Does anyone have a suggestion of where to start looking so I can complete this step?

I have even gone into the Diagnostic setup (http://server:50000/smd) Setup Wizard, selected the Managing system (ABAP & JAVA Technical systems) clicked on the "Setup sid (ABAP, JAVA)" button, been taken to the setup parameters screen. But it tells me that the SMD Agent hasn't been found!.

What steps might I have missed to cause this and what do I do to fix it?

Ken

Dear friends,

In the above case we can also follow one easier way.

just uninstall the current diagnostic agent and install a new one. I think Ken has also done the same.

it will work on most of the cases. Please make sure when you are installing the new Diagnostic agent that time when it will ask for solution detail rjust enter all the correct details of SOLMAN system and if any errors come don't ignore it, 1st correct them then go to further steps.

if you'll see any error like "host address not accessible " then just go to the hosts files of both the system and just do the correct entry with both the IP address as well as FQN.

Thanks,

Thanks all

I'm not sure how, but the situation has corrected it self. About the only thing I did was to recreate the Diagnostic Agent connection and in about 30 minutes the connection appeared.

I appologize for not being clearer on the solution, but I seriously don't know how it cleared itself.

Hi,

You need to provide the SLD distination and port , user id and password should be correct one.

http<hostname>:<port>/sld .... try to connect with user id/ password if it work then provide same in Agent configuration.

Thanks

Hello Sir,

SAP recommends to assign SMD Agent directly to SolMan during installation, It seems that you have assign your Agent to SLD and that is why the Agent cannot be seen when running Managed System Setup.

So in your case you should go to SLD and register Agent with your SolMan after which you should see the Agent in Agent Administration than the Agent can be picked up during Setup of Managed system.

If you have difficulties assigning Agent to Solman you can:

1. use smdsetup script:

smdsetup managingconf hostname:"sapms://<J2ee_Message_server_hostname>" port:"<http_port_message_server>" user:"SMD_ADMIN" pwd:"xxxxxx"

2. or remove the Agent and install it again connecting to Solution Manager directly via the message server

There is detailed Diagnostics Agent Setup Guide available at https://service.sap.com/diagnostics that should be helpful
