As of SAP ECC 6.0, enhancement package 3, we can activate the " HCM, ESS for Personal Information (HCM_ESS_CI_1)" business function, which will make available the "Maintain foreign address data in ESS" functionality.
As per the SAP documentation, "Employees can maintain foreign addresses with country-specific formats. If a country-specific format does not exist, an employee can use the international address format available. This ensures that address data is entered and maintained in the appropriate format.".
My questions:
1. how is this different than the country-specific iViews available before the enhancement package3?
2. I am not familiar with any "international address" iView in Portal. what is the international address format? where is this stored? and how does it work if no "international address" iView exists in the portal?
Thanks in advance,
Tiberiu

Hi Tiberiu,
1. how is this different than the country-specific iViews available before the enhancement package3?
Before EHP3, you only could maintain each address by using country-specific iViews, one per country.
2. I am not familiar with any "international address" iView in Portal. what is the international address format? where is this stored? and how does it work if no "international address" iView exists in the portal?
Since EHP3, you can use the international address iView (look for it in EHP3 folder for ESS in Portal Content), then just select a country from the country menu.
As prerequisites, activate the business function HCM_ESS_CI_1, and follow the IMG activities:
Employee Self-Service > Service-Specific Settings > Personal Information > Foreign Address Settings > Determine Countries for Foreign Address and Make Settings
Employee Self-Service > Service-Specific Settings > Personal Information > Foreign Address Settings > Specify Countries for Foreign Address Entry

Hi Sergio, thank you for your response.
1. what happens with the International Address object when user changes the country? will the screen fields change to reflect the new country selected?
2. why are there country-specific iViews in EnhP3? what EnhP3-specific functionality is offered in this objects?
