Dear Expert,

We currently want to upgrade RAM for HP-UX for running SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7.

My question, Are there any OS kernel parameter value must be change in relationship with RAM changes?

Thanks...

Dear Joe,

I think the related OS kernel parameter for RAM are shmmax and maxdsiz_64bit.

Is it correct?

Thanks...

Afaik you have to adjust shmmax.

But I wouldn't change maxdsiz_64bit.

Have a look at man maxdsiz in Unix:

This tunable should be raised if user processes are receiving the

By the way, I suppose you did consider swap space:

Dear Joe,

Could you tell me how to monitor system status for the error?

Thanks...

Hello Yansen,

not sure about this. I never did deliberately monitor system status for this error in HP-UX.

But there are the usual suspects like file /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log.

And listen whenever a user is reporting a strange error message.

What I wanted to say: I wouldn't change parameter maxdsiz_64bit, unless I really have to. And I trust that I will notice when I really have to.

But maybe it's only me.

hope this helps

Hi,

You need to consider two things one is swp need to increase and the other OS kernel parameter is shmmax.

Thanks,
