Hi,
I am wondering if there is a best practice when storing images that are to be used in SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0.
Today, we have our 40.000 images stored on a separate server, with low user accesibility. Is it best practice to place the images on the same physical server that holds the MDM-server? Or is it prefered to have them on a separate server? Is there any documentation on this?
Thank you in advance.
KR,
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
You can go for any approach. You can either store images in the repository or can make image available in original location only.
Refer smooth MDM Implementation which states that 5.10 Number of images Image records in MDM above 100,000 should be absolutely avoided. As MDM needs continuously access to the DB So Not all data is loaded into memory like Images.
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70b0caa1-92e5-2c10-c687-a8d05e778... see page 16/97 and 5.10.
As you can go for either approach but i feel that it preferred to store images on a separate location(server) keeping in mind about performance of DB which contains all the data.
