Hi Everyone,

I am new in XMII, So anyone can explain when we use the tag query?

Hi Pankaj,

XMII is basically used for integration of ERP systems with Shop Floor Manufacturing Units which includes OPC complaint systems. The critical data points within the Shop Floor Units can be configured in the form of Tags, and we can read the data values from the respective systems into MII, which can be further used for calculation of various manufacturing parameters to be set in ECC.

You can use the TagQuery to create templates that access tag-oriented connectors such as process historians and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software applications, which provides the following data:

● Current values

● Historical (time-series) values

● Statistical summaries of historical data

For eg. , if you have a manufacturing unit comprising of a DCS system within Oil/Petrochemical sector and the Shop Floor unit is connected to the Reactor. In this case, we can connect the Shop Floor DCS Unit to SAP MII system using Data Sources and then we can retrieve critical Reactor Parameters like Tank Gauge, Tank Temperature, Flow Rate, Reactor Run Time, Reactor Current Status amongst others from SAP MII system using Tag Query. The critical units so retrieved will be helpful in further decision making / Planning. Even we can en-route the data to ECC directly, or after modification of the data based on certain calculations.

We can even make use of various display templates to get a look & feel of the tag values in Graphical mode on the MII system.

Tag queries are for the retrieval of Time Series data typically from a data historian (PI, IP21, iHistorian, etc.) or from an OPC server (DA, HDA, etc.). This type of data is the lifeblood of most Shop Floor Operations and is required for many industries subject to governmental or industrial regulation.
