We are deploying a Visual Studio 2008 .Net Windows application using click once. We specify Crystal Reports XI Release 2 as a prerequisite and have the bootstrapper program located here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages (C:\Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 machines).
Under this configuration everything works fine. However, we are now in the process of upgrading to service pack 6 and need to know what modification need to be made to our client setup procedure. I know merge modules are available for SP6 but am unsure how to integrate them with a click one deployment. The Crystal website recommends msi deployment over using merge modules, but I have not been able to locate updated msi to support the latest service packs.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Fix Pack 2.5 is now available also and you should update your Dev PC as well as the runtime to this version also.
Thank you

I think Don overlooked one thing here. CR XI r2 is not supported with .NET 2008. Only Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (10.5) and CR 2008 (12.2.x) are supported with .NET 2008. See [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/WhichCrystalReportsassemblyversionsaresupportedinwhichversionsofVisualStudio+.NET] wiki for more info.
Also, for CR 2008, try to stay at SP 2 without any Fix Packs. See kbase #[1446638|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] for more details.

Understood. I do deal with a number of customers that, like you do make it work, but then the problems often start. All of a sudden with no changes to the code, the project stops working. Or they deploy the project and it works on some boxes, not on others. Or it works for a while, then it stops. Maddening. I guess the thinking of PM group was that CR XI r2 release in 2005 and making it work with .NET 2008 was not worth it as by that time we were on CR 2008.
Anyhow, see how things go with the right version, etc.
Happy coding,
Ludek
